The music in the introduction is Auf, schmetternde Töne der muntern Trompeten (“Awake, Blaring Sounds of Lively Trumpets!”) (BWV 207a) by Johann Sebastian Bach. The piece was probably premiered in 1735. This recording is made by Brass of an arrangement for brass quintet by Hubert Meixner.
The image for this episode is the beginning of the Gospel of Mark from the Codex Amiatinus Vulgate, held in the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana (available here).
